The Waveshare PCIe to M.2 Adapter for Raspberry Pi 5 HAT, Supports NVMe, M.2 Solid State Drive is engineered to enhance the Raspberry Pi 5 by enabling the use of NVMe protocol M.2 solid state drives. It facilitates high-speed data transfer and allows the Raspberry Pi 5 to boot from a solid state drive. The adapter is compatible with 2230 and 2242 size M.2 drives and supports Gen2 and Gen3 modes.

This adapter connects via a 16PIN cable and includes dual LED indicators for monitoring operational status. It also features a power monitoring chip and EEPROM for real-time power status checks, ensuring stable performance. Additionally, a reserved airflow vent is available for a cooling fan to optimize thermal management.
