Description
This X29D was rebuilt and rebodied from an X29 boxcar in the mid-1950s. This extended the life of the car, allowing it to continue in service through the 1970s. Pennsylvania was a large Class 1 railroad formed in 1846 and grew to be a predominant shipper on the east coast until 1968 when it merged with rival New York Central to form Penn Central.
